New Year of Classes with Phoenix!

It's so wonderful to be continuing classes in Worcester for this coming year!
On January 8th, a whole new session of tribal bellydance will be starting - in fact it will be a beginner and an intermediate class (for those who have already taken the beginner class).
The Beginner tribal class will focus (as usual) on the very basics of group improvisation - learning how to lead and follow in group improvisation along with some simple moves and cues. We'll work on ghawazee basic and ghawazee 2, arabic basic, arabic twist, egyptian basic, egyptian quarter pounder with cheese (hehehe), maias, taxseems, structural rolls, and if there is time, some simple combos.

In the Beyond Beginner class, we'll be furthering our practice of group improvisation with some more complex moves and combinations, including hip bumps (and the Gypsyc Caravan hip bump combo), 3/4 shimmies and the box combo, arabic combo, amaya box, mo-ped box, moroccan hip hop, and bolero walk combo. We'll spend more time learning to lead the group and work on chorus moves as well.

Also coming this January are potential classes at the YWCA. On January 18th, I will be offering a FREE (yes, that's right...it's FREE) one time class at the Central Mass YWCA at 5:45PM. It will be a beginner style bellydance class (not specifically tribal - mostly traditional moves). We'll focus on some simple bellydance movements including hip lifts and drops, chest lifts and drops, circles, undulations, and hopefully some shimmying! With enough interest, this will become a regularly scheduled class (though it's only free for this one time).

Also happening in the new year will be at least two scheduled workshops - one in February at the Lotus Rising Studio in Rollinsford, NH. There I'll be teaching some fun combinations for group improv including the arabic squat combo, the ananda combo, the mo-ped box, snakey hips, and some other fun newly adapted combos!

In April I'll be teaching a simple tribal improvisational workshop at Shimmies for a Cure in Somerville.

All in all, it's going to be a fun year! I can't wait to get going. I'm also continuing to offer private lessons in a variety of styles, Celebrate Your Body (in-home bellydance) parties, and Arabian Princess parties for kids. It should be a great year ahead!
Welcome 2008!!!!!
