New Year of Classes with Phoenix!

It's so wonderful to be continuing classes in Worcester for this coming year!
On January 8th, a whole new session of tribal bellydance will be starting - in fact it will be a beginner and an intermediate class (for those who have already taken the beginner class).
The Beginner tribal class will focus (as usual) on the very basics of group improvisation - learning how to lead and follow in group improvisation along with some simple moves and cues. We'll work on ghawazee basic and ghawazee 2, arabic basic, arabic twist, egyptian basic, egyptian quarter pounder with cheese (hehehe), maias, taxseems, structural rolls, and if there is time, some simple combos.

In the Beyond Beginner class, we'll be furthering our practice of group improvisation with some more complex moves and combinations, including hip bumps (and the Gypsyc Caravan hip bump combo), 3/4 shimmies and the box combo, arabic combo, amaya box, mo-ped box, moroccan hip hop, and bolero walk combo. We'll spend more time learning to lead the group and work on chorus moves as well.

Also coming this January are potential classes at the YWCA. On January 18th, I will be offering a FREE (yes, that's right...it's FREE) one time class at the Central Mass YWCA at 5:45PM. It will be a beginner style bellydance class (not specifically tribal - mostly traditional moves). We'll focus on some simple bellydance movements including hip lifts and drops, chest lifts and drops, circles, undulations, and hopefully some shimmying! With enough interest, this will become a regularly scheduled class (though it's only free for this one time).

Also happening in the new year will be at least two scheduled workshops - one in February at the Lotus Rising Studio in Rollinsford, NH. There I'll be teaching some fun combinations for group improv including the arabic squat combo, the ananda combo, the mo-ped box, snakey hips, and some other fun newly adapted combos!

In April I'll be teaching a simple tribal improvisational workshop at Shimmies for a Cure in Somerville.

All in all, it's going to be a fun year! I can't wait to get going. I'm also continuing to offer private lessons in a variety of styles, Celebrate Your Body (in-home bellydance) parties, and Arabian Princess parties for kids. It should be a great year ahead!

New classes forming!

The next session of Introduction to Tribal Improvisation Bellydance will be starting on September 18th at the Zen Training Center in Worcester. This class is for new students to tribal improv. and runs from 7:15-8:15PM on Tuesday evenings.
Following this class, from 8:15-9:15PM, Beyond Beginner Tribal Bellydance will be held for those students who have taken introductory tribal with me in the past.

Also, on Thursday evenings from 7-8, I will be teaching Beginner Bellydance to students of the College of the Holy Cross

Two New Classes in Worcester!!!

Empowerment through Bellydance: A tribal improv class

Tribal style bellydance has evolved to become one of the most empowering forms of dance for women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. In this class we will be learning how to improvise in a group setting through bellydance movement vocabulary, combinations, and cues. This class is perfect for women who are completely new to the world of bellydance as well as those who are new to the tribal improvisational style. 6 week session: June 26th – August 7st (no class July 17th) Space is limited so please pre-register by June 22nd. Class runs from 7:15-8:15PM at the Zen Training Center, 65 Water St, 3rd floor, Worcester, MA- $75/6week session

Creative Performance through Bellydance: A theatrical class

Bellydance has been sprouting into the theatrical scene. This class will combine many forms of bellydance – from classical Egyptian to modern tribal fusion and gothic styles – transforming the movements into a dramatic and unique performance art. Although this class is perfect for women who have taken at least one beginner bellydance class session, new dancers are more than welcome to take part. 6 week session: June 26th – August 7st (no class July 17th). Phoenix is Rising in Worcester again!!

Hello to all!
I'd like to officially announce that my husband Gryphon, my son Logan, and I will be returning to Central Massachusetts by June of 2007. I will unfortunately have to leave behind my wonderful students at the Oracle Chamber in Salem, but will be teaching again in Worcester beginning in June - most likely at the Zen Training Center on Water Street. Available classes will be Tribal improvisation, Gothic fusion bellydance, and Beginner bellydance.

Days and times will be posted at a later date!
